​Midwifery care package includes pregnancy, birth and postpartum care.

Pregnancy:  In-home, holistic prenatal visits providing a thorough evaluation of you and your baby, education on nutrition, movement, birth preparation, and much more. Labwork can also be done in-home.

Prenatal home visits are:
Monthly visits from start of pregnancy to 28 weeks
twice monthly visits 28-36 weeks
weekly visits 36 weeks until delivery

Birth:  24-hour, on-call support for you after 36 weeks, complete monitoring of you and baby throughout labor, birth and a minimum of 3 hours immediately postpartum. Additional support is provided for initial breastfeeds and a complete newborn exam is performed.

Postpartum:  In-home, holistic postpartum visits providing a thorough evaluation of you and your baby, supporting on-going breastfeeding, and facilitating deep healing for you.

Sun Moon Baby is an out-of-hospital based midwife practice serving, Lynnwood, Mukilteo, South Everett and Whidbey Island Washington. Our practice is led by licensed midwife Penelope Jupiter Zela. 

• Penelope provides informed, intuitive, boutique-style care combined with collaborative group learning to bolster you with confidence and community support to follow you into motherhood.

• ​As an out-of-hospital provider, we believe in the power of physiologic birth. Through the people we serve, we have witnessed how empowering and transformative birth can be, when families are supported in participating fully in the birth process rather than simply following instructions. Physiologic birth can imbue Mother-Baby, and all who participate, with the deep sense of confidence in nature and self. We work with you to optimize your rite of passage to be the richest most fulfilling it can be.

• Penelope honors each Mother-Baby's innate wisdom throughout care, while integrating the important clinical knowledge a midwife brings to facilitate a healthy and safe birth experience. Our job is to make sure you are safe. Your job is to fully participate in the most engaging rich experience life has to offer.

• She provides referrals to complementary and medical healthcare providers as necessary, to ensure the safety and well-being of the Mother-Baby dyad.

Six 2 hour postpartum visits each including: hot oil massage, an ayurvedic meal specially for postpartum time, breast feeding and newborn care counseling and light housekeeping.
