An anecdote about anecdotal evidence

Where does the name anecdotal evidence come from? Indeed our own experience would give us emperical evidence. Anecdotal is a word that has been given to us to disengage us from trusting our own knowing. Indeed we are told by the established scientific leaders “academia” that our own experience is not valid for determining what is scientifically true. We are taught to disregard our own experience as ‘anecdotal evidence’.

We, as intelligent human beings, do not have any obligation to perpetuate this dogma as it is disempowering and not accurate. Interestingly in the eastern tradition the most reliable way to know something is to witness it. Otherwise it is subject to the bias of the one giving us the information. When we are told to regard our experience as anecdotal we are being asked to divorce ourselves from our own knowing. We are instead told to trust what we are told from the authority. The first way is to know by empirical evidence. This way is not subject to the bias of mal interested parties and has worked for thousands of years. In choosing how to live your life make sure you notice the conditioned thinking to dismiss your experience as anecdotal and remember that your experience is your most valuable data point.
